When it does not work
The four failures that come up most often.
407 Proxy Authentication Required
The username or password did not arrive. Usually a stray space from copying, or a special character in the password eaten by the shell — wrap the string in single quotes.
Empty reply, timeout, reset
Check the port: 823 for a new address per request, 10000–20000 for a held one. The gateway does not answer on any other port.
Out of traffic
Once the paid gigabytes are spent the gateway stops answering. Add more to the same username on the Add traffic page — password and gateway do not change.
Wrong country
Check the suffix: two underscores, cr, a dot, and a lowercase two-letter code. A typo in the code means the default address, not an error.
